Prepare, Submit and Celebrate Your Work!

The Excellence in Communications Awards celebrate exceptional work across every facet of public communication, from standout graphic design to impactful strategic campaigns.
The program also honors individual excellence through the prestigious Communicator of the Year award.
RULES OF COMPETITION
- First and second-place awards may be given if minimum scores are met
- A second-place award is not guaranteed unless a category has at least four entries
- An entry is not complete until payment has been received
- Members must certify their submission was actively used and fits the spirit of the program
Judging Process
Entries are reviewed by communications professionals from outside North Carolina to ensure fairness. In 2026, members of the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC) will serve as judges.
Judging Criteria
- Problem/Opportunity Statement: Why the project was needed.
- Intended Goals or Outcomes: The measurable objectives.
- Project Details: Key information and approach.
- Budget & Resources: Funding (in-house vs. vendor work).
- Documentation of Achievement: Results, data, media coverage or participation.
.
- Overall Execution: Creativity, clarity and effectiveness.
Judging Requirement
To keep the program strong, NC3C requires that members who submit entries also serve as judges for a partner organization’s awards.
If you cannot judge, you may appoint a colleague in your organization. Failure to meet this responsibility may result in removal of your entry.
This partnership ensures unbiased, professional evaluation — when you win an NC3C award, you know you earned it!
