NC3C has officially moved to a new website and member platform

We have some exciting news to share: NC3C has officially moved to a new website and member platform — and we think you're going to love it.

This has been a long time coming. Over the years, our previous platform left us with more than a few frustrations like emails that never seemed to arrive, records that were difficult to manage, and login issues that caused more headaches than they solved. We knew we could do better for our members.

So we got to work. After careful planning, we made the move to AssociationSphere for our member management, paired with Blue Hill Sites for a fresh, easy-to-navigate front-facing website. We quietly launched in late April, and now we're ready to officially introduce you to your new digital home.

What's new — and what it means for you

A more robust member experience

Our new platform gives us a significantly more capable Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, which means cleaner records, better data management, and a more seamless experience for everyone involved.

A Members Portal

One of the features we're most excited about is the new Members Portal, a dedicated space where you can access member resources, update your information, and stay connected with the NC3C community.

Our new Content Management System (CMS) is easier to use, which means our team can keep content fresh, accurate, and looking great — without jumping through hoops to make simple updates. Expect a more current and polished experience going forward.

How to log in to Membership Portal

here's how to get in and what you can do

One of the most exciting parts of ou r platform modernization is the launch of the NC3C Members Portal — a dedicated space where you can manage your membership, access resources, register for events, and more, all in one place.

But before you can explore everything it has to offer, there's one important thing to know: your previous login credentials do not carry over. Because we've moved to an entirely new platform, every member needs to create a fresh portal account to get started.

How to Create Your Portal Account

Go to the portal | Visit NC3C in your browser, hover over Members in the main menu and select Access the Membership Portal.
Click "Sign Up" | You'll find this option on the sign-in page.
Register Individual Account | Enter the same name and email address associated with your NC3C membership. This is how the system links your new account.
Set your password | Choose a new password for your portal account.
You're in | Once your account is created, you'll land on your member dashboard and can start exploring.

Not sure which email is on file? Reach out to our Secretary and we'll look it up for you before you create your account.

What You Can do in the Portal

Once you're logged in, your dashboard gives you access to six core areas:

Browse and register for upcoming NC3C events, view your event history, reprint tickets, and update attendee information, including custom fields, directly from your portal.

View your payment history, update your credit card on file, and manage how you pay for dues, events, and other NC3C transactions — all in one secure place.

View all open and closed invoices tied to your account and pay any outstanding balance directly online with a credit card — no need to contact the board.

Check your current membership status.

Active members get access to a searchable directory of NC3C members, filterable by category or committee. A great resource for networking and connecting with peers across the state.

Access and download member-only documents shared by NC3C leadership — resources, guides, meeting materials, and more posted directly to your portal for easy reference.

You Can Also Mana ge Your Own Information

Beyond those six core areas, the portal also lets you keep your own records up to date without having to contact the board. From your account settings you can update your address, phone number, and email; manage your contact information; and control your communication preferences.

Excellence in Communications Awards Features New Category

Award entry period: Jan. 2-Jan. 30, 2026

After two years of zero entries, the NC3C Board voted at its retreat this summer to retire the 'Digital Resource' category. In its place, we are offering a new ' Reels & Shorts ' category, aimed specifically at vertical videos of 90 seconds or less.

As we did last year, categories that have enough entries will be split between large and small population (typically 200,000 is the cutoff, but it will vary slightly based on who enters which category). This allows for a more level playing field for some of our smaller organizations and also encourages greater participation from our larger organizations, as they can go head to head against their peers with similar staffing levels and resources.

Our awards contest entry period opens on Friday, Jan. 2 , and early bird rates are $50 per entry (you must be an NC3C member in good standing to enter). The early bird deadline is Friday, Jan. 23, at which point rates will go to the standard $75 per entry until the final entry deadline of Friday, January 30 .

Our contest last year saw a record number of entries, and we want to keep that going, so show us all the awesome work your teams have done this past year! The contest is for work created and published during the 2025 calendar year.

When you enter into the Excellence in Communications awards, you agree to do judging in the spring for the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators' (MAGC) Northern Lights Contest. We have a reciprocal judging agreement with their organization, and it only works if everyone does their part.

Following a lengthy conversation this summer at our annual retreat, the board voted to apply a $25 per entry fee on next year's contest entries for any organization that does not complete its judging assignments for the Northern Lights contest.

We hope this will help reduce the number of unjudged entries that then fall on board members to have to judge at the last minute in order to meet our obligations for MAGC.

The TL;DR:

Start thinking about what content you want to submit for awards, especially for our new 'Reels & Shorts' category.
Please do your judging for our friends in Minnesota in the spring.

New This Year

NC3C members who attend the conference and are selected to present will receive a reduced registration rate of $300 - a savings of $100 off the final conference rate.

Welcome Michael Reddington

We are thrilled to welcome Michael Reddington, CFI - speaker, author and expert on Disciplined Listening - as our 2026 keynote speaker.

In his book, "The Disciplined Listening Method: How A Certified Forensic Interviewer Unlocks Hidden Value in Every Conversation, " Michael shares his approach for unlocking the hidden value in conversations.

His methodologies help strengthen self-awareness, better appreciate others’ experiences, and identify new opportunities through highly intentional communication.

His podcast , " I See What You’re Saying," expands on these themes through conversations with CEOs, investigators, scientists, educators, military leaders, athletes, and other communication experts.
